Book Review

Felted Vests by Phyllis's Hoffman - A Step By Step Guide

This well structured book should give anyone the confidence they need to get started and successfully complete a vest using fibres and fabrics in their collection.

Phyllis has a life-long background in teaching dressmaking and has produced an excellent guide on how to make a garment to fit all body shapes and sizes.

There are tables to explain pattern making as well as felting terminology, needs for pattern making and felting requirements. Good diagrams and explanations on taking your measurements and pattern making and adjusting.

What I find particularly useful is a guide table outlining how each method affects various parts of the garment. The methods are using yardage, using a template or a resist

Once you've digested the various ways to approach your project, Phyllis gives you a variety of vests projects to make. Once mastered, from here, you can carry on with your own designs.

All in all, this is a very handy A4 size book for you if you need encouragement from start to finish with building up your felting techniques and knowledge of tailor made garments that are assured to fit every time.
Give it a go.
